Who is Excellence?

I am Excellence Anurika Joshua — a woman on a mission to reimagine what’s possible for healthcare systems and economic opportunity across Africa. I wear many hats, but at the heart of it all, I’m deeply invested in creating systems that work — especially for women, children, and underserved communities.

My journey started in Nigeria, where I trained and practiced as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I began my career at the National Assembly Clinic just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and that season opened my eyes to the gaps, inefficiencies, and deep inequities in our health systems. It sparked a lifelong curiosity about how healthcare is funded, managed, and delivered — and most importantly, how we can do it better.

That curiosity led me to the University of California, Berkeley, where I earned a Master’s in Development Engineering, with a concentration in Healthcare Transformations. During my time at Berkeley, I explored how to optimize maternal and child health systems, design context-specific interventions, and use data for better decision-making. I also had the privilege of working in the Dean’s Office at the School of Public Health, where I supported cross-functional projects and connected with global health leaders doing powerful work across the world.

Today, I work with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) as a Program Analyst, where I work with as part of a team focused on improving Primary Health Care (PHC) systems in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Our work is about more than just numbers and frameworks — it’s about making sure that the people who walk into a health facility actually receive care that is timely, respectful, and effective. We’re building a system where data matters, performance is measured, and leaders are equipped to make better choices.

But healthcare is only part of my calling.

In 2021, I founded Techy Train Incubator (TTI) — a social impact initiative born out of a deep conviction that economic empowerment is just as essential to public health. TTI trains young African women in in-demand, income-generating digital skills — not the fancy tech that takes years to master, but practical skills like digital admin, sales, and marketing that can get women into decent jobs fast. We’ve trained over 10,000 women and girls across 35+ countries, and I’m incredibly proud of the lives we’ve seen transformed through this work.

As a PMP-certified project manager, I bring structure, clarity, and results-driven focus to everything I do. As a storyteller, I use my voice — whether in writing, video, or public speaking — to advocate for smarter systems, deeper impact, and more African-led solutions.

And as a mother, I live this work every day. I’m raising my son with the same values I build into my work — integrity, resilience, curiosity, faith, and the belief that the world is better when we show up fully and serve boldly.

A few things I believe:

  • Systems should serve people — not the other way around.

  • Women don’t need to be empowered; they need access, support, and opportunity.

  • African problems deserve African solutions designed by people who understand the context.

  • Faith, when anchored in action, is a game-changer.

Key Areas of Expertise:

  • Strategic Program Design & Implementation

  • Health Systems Strengthening (with a PHC focus)

  • Digital Skills Curriculum Design for Economic Growth

  • Data Visualization & Evidence-Based Communication

  • Project Management (PMP-Certified)

  • Leadership Development & Team Coaching

Whether I’m building a performance framework for PHC supervisors, designing a mentorship module, helping a woman land her first remote job, or simply sharing lessons from the field — my goal is the same: build solutions that last and tell stories that matter.

If you’re looking to collaborate, bring me on board, or just have a meaningful conversation about health, gender, tech, or impact — I’m always open to connecting.
